Over the years of replacing transmission pan gaskets, I find this product to be the best one. I used to worry about keeping everything clean so the RTV can stick between the cork gasket and pan. I read about cork being the worst type of gasket to use, but a combo cork/rubber is better at sealing. When I tried this product, I had no problems at all. The material is tough enough to prevent cracking and splitting during bolt tightening to spec. RTV sticks very well with it and I did not have to wait for it to dry. When I removed the pan to change the filter, the RTV stuck to the gasket, not to the transmission block. Clean up is a snap. I no longer have to worry about seal failures or leaks. The extra cost of this item is worth it compared to the cork gasket.
